Photograph of a map dated June 1, 1790, depicting the former Gov. Wentworth farm on the shores of Lake Wentworth (originally called Smith's Pond). After the American Revolution, the farm was confiscated by the State. In 1782, it was sold to Andrew and John Cabot of Beverly, Mass., who hired people to raise horses and cattle there. The mansion burned down as a result of an accidental fire on Sept. 12, 1820.
