The attraction of the Wolfeboro area as a tourist destination was recognized in the second half of the 19th century. The establishment of long-term children's summer camps began in the 1901-1910 decade. Many camps existed in the ensuing years, and some still operate today. Some camps were for families, with shorter stays, usually by the week. The Allen "A" originally was called a Camp, later changed to Resort, and their postcards are included here. For complete details on the camps, refer to the History of Wolfeboro, by Q. David Bowers, 1996.
