This is the earliest known view of the Bank Building, dating to c. 1865. The building dates to 1856, bult for the shoe factory. The signs for the upper floors include: Masonic Hall (they moved out after the Civil War; and Brackett & Thompson's Brogan Manufactory. The first floor includes: Charles H. Hersey's Grocery & General Store, which included the Post Office; the Granite State News; and the Lake National Bank. The building on the left was torn down, c. 1871, to create Railroad Ave.
