The site of Gov. John Wentworth's mansion is on Route 109, a short drive east of the beach area (a sign marks the dirt road on the right). This is the marker at the mansion site. Gov. Wentworth was quite progressive and well liked by the colonists. However, as a British Loyalist, he was forced to flee as the American Revolution progressed.
