Wolfeboro Falls is a loosely defined area centered around the falls of the Smith River. The river is the outlet of Lake Wentworth and Crescent Lake, connected by a level stretch of the river. There is an upper dam on Crescent Lake, then a short rapids to the Mill Pond and lower dam next to Center Street. The lower dam powered several commercial mills for many years. The Wolfeboro Falls area includes Elm Street, Factory Street (now Lehner Street), as well as (then called) Front Bay and Back Bay, separated by the railroad causeway.
