This house is just off South Main St., on Cropley Hill Rd., c. 1920. Once part of Sherman Brummitt's barn, he relocated it & converted it to an apartment house. Brummitt was an entrepreneur. He began with a large poultry & dairy business on Pleasant Valley Rd., then became a contractor & built many summer cottages around Lake Wentworth. Later, he began an insurance agency, owned the Pickering Tavern, and moved buildings around to populate Cropley Hill Rd. & Brummitt Court, both behind the Tavern.
