Forest Road runs from North Main St. to the end of Wolfeboro Neck. The original dirt road was only laid out from North Main St. to the Carry Beach area. Unimproved farm roads ventured further, as the Neck was extensively farmed. Some clearing and extensions were made at various times, but the road wasn't paved until 1947. In 1966, the road was moved to bypass the Carry Beach shore and create an off-road parking area. The Lakes Region Airpark & Seaplane Base was near the end of the road from 1945 to about 2005 (see the Airplanes group under Transportation).
